Yes, absolutely. We specialise in retrofitting high-performance Insulated Glass Units (IGUs) into existing timber sash and casement frames. As long as your timber frames are in reasonable structural condition, they can be upgraded to double glazing.

Yes, significantly. Retrofitting allows you to keep your high-quality original timber joinery, avoiding the cost of new frames and the structural work required for full replacement. It is generally the best-value way to achieve modern thermal performance in a heritage home.

Our goal is to preserve the authentic character of your home. The new double glazed units are installed within your existing frames, meaning the look of your windows remains virtually unchanged from the outside. We can even retain or replicate original glazing bars (mullions).

Yes, significantly. Double glazing provides a much better thermal and acoustic barrier than single glass. Additionally, as part of our installation process, we service the windows to ensure they close tightly, which eliminates draughts and further reduces noise.

We offer a variety of options including high-performance Low-E glass for maximum warmth, acoustic laminate for superior noise reduction, and various obscure or patterned glass styles for privacy. We can also encapsulate existing leadlights into new IGUs.

We do not perform window putty repairs; this specialised work is best handled by a professional glazier or glass company.

We do not repair single panes of broken glass. For broken glass repairs, we recommend contacting a local glass company.

Our work focuses on the mechanical and structural aspects of timber joinery. For paint stripping, painting, and full cosmetic refurbishment, we recommend the services of a qualified painter/decorator. While some refurbishment is included with retrofit double glazing, final painting will still be required.

Yes. Our Insulated Glass Units (IGUs) are manufactured to the relevant NZ/AUS standards by accredited manufacturers and are covered by a 10-year guarantee under the NZ Building Code.

Mullions are the timber glazing bars that divide sashes into smaller panes of glass. Depending on your preference, we can retain these to preserve the heritage character of your home or remove them for a clearer, unobstructed view.

True double glazing involves replacing single-pane glass with a newly manufactured IGU (Insulated Glass Unit) consisting of two panes of glass separated by a butyl spacer. Products that simply add a second layer of glass or acrylic over existing windows are not true double glazing and lack the same thermal benefits.

Yes, leadlights can often be 'encapsulated' into a modern IGU to provide thermal benefits while keeping the original decorative feature. Please get in touch for more specific information.
