Sash window cord replacement
Does your sash window keep sliding down when opened? or is your sash window hard to open? If so, the chances are a sash cord has snapped and the balance weights has fallen down inside the cavity.
Villa windows can replace your sash cords with 100% cotton fibre that will withstand the harsh New Zealand sun and resist deterioration. Most other cords have a synthetic inner that perishes and will only last a few summers.
We also make sure the pulley wheels are operating correctly and repair or replace as necessary.
How does a sash window work?
Double hung sash windows are counter-balanced by two pairs of weights hidden in each side of the window. The weights are hung on cords that run over a pulley wheel at the top of the window frame. If a cord snaps, the sash is difficult to open and close.
If one or more of the sash window panes have been replaced due to broken or smashed glass there is a possibility the weights will be out of balance. This will cause the window slow slide down when opened.
When Villa windows replace your sash cords we will also check to make sure the weights match your glass and are balanced correct
